The role:
Sololearn is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial-minded Lead SDET Lead to join our team and work alongside talented engineers who work hard to change the lives of our learners. You will have the opportunity to work on innovative projects on a global scale. Design and participate in the development, execution and maintenance of the automation test strategy, test plans and automation test scripts.
Own and promote the QA Automation standards (functional and non-functional) and practices across the Engineering department.
Execute automated tests and manage the resulting defect log through the point of defect fix validation.
Ensure the appropriate test environments and infrastructures are in place and kept up to date.
Identify and report to product teams questionable functions, performance concerns and inconsistencies.
Assist in the identification, selection, and implementation of tools, technologies, and practices that support the overall QA process.
Create monitoring dashboards to support reporting and diagnosing performance issues.
Contribute to accurate time estimates for automation test development.
Organize the work and how the team organizes to do this work.
Improve the qualitative and quantitative health and performance metrics.
Encourage a data-driven mindset among engineers to understand and care about the important analytics of their components and systems.
Establish an accurate measure of the quality of the engineering work and the cost of architectural trade-offs, implementations, testing approaches, maintenance overhead and ownership.
Drive and uphold high engineering standards, bringing consistency to the codebases and ensuring software is adequately reviewed, tested and integrated.
Maintain healthy levels of technical debt and be able to provide the business case to ensure it is properly addressed with the long-term in mind.
Assess new ways of working, new technologies and new practices. Encourage your team to experiment in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Demonstrate a passion for testing and evangelize this passion across the wider business, to ensure that testing is part of the entire product delivery process.
Support our teams through training/workshops/mentoring to educate the business on quality and testing.
Manage engineers, looking after their performance, morale and career development.
Conduct one-to-ones, performance reviews, hiring, mentoring and training.

Must have:
5 years’ industry experience in software development, quality assurance, test automation and automation framework development.
Experience with agile practices, OOPS concepts, TDD/ BDD, Continuous Testing & DevOps practices.
Experience with test methodologies, writing test strategies, test planning, creating test automation frameworks & writing test scripts and debugging.
Strong experience with API testing in high transactions platforms.
Good programming experience in one of the following languages: .Net (preferred), Java, JavaScript, NodeJS and/or Python.
Proficient understanding of Git version control.
Strong experience in building & maintaining test automation frameworks with different testing tools such as CucumberJVM, CucumberJS, Selenium WebDriver, WebdriverIO, Protractor, RestAssured, Karate, Serenity, Cypress, BrowserStack, Postman, JMeter, Gatling, etc.
BDD (Gherkin/Specflow, or Spock Framework) experience.
Experience with non-functional testing strategies covering performance, load, resilience, security, accessibility, etc.
Experience leading a team of at least 4 engineers.
Experience attracting, hiring and retaining top engineering talent.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
Experience with Agile or SCRUM practices.
Good to have:
Experience in Git-based source control tools like GitLab, GitHub or Bitbucket.
Experience with Mobile or Web Automation.
Experience with test management tools like TestRail.
Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes/Swarm/Helm).
Knowledge of Linux Operating System.
Experience with any of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Azure is preferred (AKS, blob storage, service bus).
Knowledge of microservices architectural style and related technologies like API gateways, message brokers, distributed logging, transactions, distributed caching, monitoring and alerting.
Knowledge of different relational (MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) or non-relational (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) databases.
