The Manager, Distribution Strategy spearheads the formulation and development of the revenue strategy for Discovery’s South Asia Product Distribution & Affiliate Sales function and partners with the distribution team on its execution. Works closely with the Head, Affiliate Sales & Product Distribution to optimise and transform the current monetisation model in response to the changing market and industry opportunities. The Manager infuses the Distribution organisation with outsider perspectives and drive a strong strategic & data/metrics/KPIs culture
Be a thought leader in terms of distribution revenue opportunities, both for Discovery’s South Asia linear TV business and its future multi-platform and digital products
Strong understanding of the evolving distribution landscape
Clear view on current opportunities, deals and prioritisation
Work closely with the Head, Affiliate Sales & Product Distribution to develop the long-term distribution growth strategy for South Asia driven by market insights, analysis and clear metrics
Develop the renewal strategy and expansion plans with strategic partners
Perform profitability analyses of current and future deals to ensure compliance with the long term growth strategy
Find opportunities to streamline and improve current sales processes with the aim of developing client relationships in a more systematic manner
Work collaboratively cross-functionally with Strategy, Finance, Consumer Insights, Ad Sales and the Products organizations on existing and new products and in so doing infuses the organization with a strategic and data-driven approach to dsitribution
At least 5-7 years management experience in strategy, sales, business development, preferably with a broadcasting media or management consultancy background
Passion for TV and media
Strong affinity with high-growth and fast-changing environments
Comfortable with ambiguity
Proven ability to challenge the status quo by thinking out of the box and introducing initiatives that change the way organisations think and operate
Possess a rigorous understanding of the competitive distribution landscape in India and across South Asia
Experience analyzing and presenting all relevant market, industry, and company factors to support concrete strategic targets and priorities, positioning Discovery for strong financial performance and growth
Proven ability to research and model financial outcomes based on a variety of assumptions
Strong project management skills, with the ability to proactively manage a variety of projects and timelines
Self-motivated and results-oriented, this candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently to research, analyze, synthesize, and present complex qualitative and quantitative data clearly
Advanced communication skills with specific experience in negotiation and/or implementing major organizational change
In depth knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
