Role Purpose:
Responsible for supervising and directing infection prevention and control (IPC) activities within the group. Holds accountability for maintenance of standards within infection prevention and control.Providing effective management and leadership by acting as a role model; developing team performance; managing the IPC department; utilizing resources effectively. Contributes to the delivery of the organization’s objectives by; continuous quality improvement; service improvement, development and modernization; staff management.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Is knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an education atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients and staff in a safe, secure environment.
Maintains confidentiality of all data related to staff patients, and hospital operations.
Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
Monitors staff compliance with mandatory IPC requirements
Maintains comprehensive IPC records on all assigned staff and departments
Investigates reported complaints, problems and concerns and provides feedback to Nursing/hospital administration. Implements any training needs required in relation to complaints
Completes requirements for in-service IPC training, and other work duties as assigned.
Plans adequate training needs assessments and training schedules for the IPC needs (internal and external staff)
Plans and schedules required IPC training needs
Plans staff annual leave absences judiciously to ensure equity and fairness for all staff without compromising operational requirements
Provides all reports, statistics and other information requested by nursing and hospital administration by identified deadlines ensuring reports, statistics and information are accurate
Coaches, mentors, counsels and educates staff with identified IPC training needs as required.
Monitors IPC performance of employees, units and facilities ensuring all deadlines for completion of items and competencies have been met. Develops performance improvement plan and training plans for any identified deficiencies
Promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement through the use of audit, FOCUS –PDCA projects and patient feedback. Performs any audits requested by administration and provides accurate data. Discusses audit results with staff and develops action plans when less than acceptable results are achieved.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Masters Degree in Nursing, IPC or related field Preferred
Post registration certification in the specialty of IPC practice
Valid DHA license
Valid CIC status
Minimum Experience and Knowledge:
Minimum 8 to 10 years IPC experience with at least 3-5 years in a key IPC position
Minimum 2 years of lead IPC working
Previous experience working with international accreditation i.e. JCIA preferred
Previous IPC planning and risk assessment experience
Knowledgeable of Dubai Health Authority regulatory standards and has the ability to guide the Nursing Team in accordance with the regulatory requirements and CME/LST requirements
Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:
Supervise and undertake IPC educational and training duties
Ability to deliver quality IPC services
Ability in performing analysis, risk assessments, audits and management requirements
Ability to prepare and implement group wide standard operating procedures for a quality IPC workflow
