The Activities team is looking for a passionate, organized, and user-focused contract QA Analyst to help own the test approach and manual testing of embedded games within the Discord platform. That’s right, play games for work!
What you’ll be doing
Own the definition and execution of manual test plans for a feature, game, or release across multiple desktop web browsers and web client app.
Manage testing estimates, test plans, schedules, timelines, bug analytics/metrics, test execution and mitigation plans for 1-3 small-to-medium sized game projects at various stages of the development and release lifecycles
Work with the internal QA team to manage and share internal and 3rd party manual tester resources across multiple game teams, ensuring all releases are properly supported and scoped
Report project testing efforts to QA, Engineering, and Product leads and stakeholders
Monitor communication channels for internally and externally reported bugs, and assist in investigation of possible fixes
Own the bug life cycle by using critical thinking skills to test, reproduce, suggest a solution to fix the issue, thoroughly verify fixes, and conduct exploratory and regression testing to ensure no new issues were created.
Contribute ideas to product managers and game designers to improve existing games or games while in-development
Escalate issues, risks, scope change, or concerns to team leads and project stakeholders
Audit QA test suites on a regular basis to ensure proper test coverage, correct expected behavior, and priority of test cases
What you should have
3+ years of total software QA testing experience (web or mobile)
2+ years of game testing experience (web, mobile, console, or VR.)
2+ year of desktop web browser or desktop client testing experience (games or platform)
Experience working in a fast-paced, iterative environment with demonstrated flexibility, problem-solving and ability to shift priorities
Demonstrated effectiveness working with and building relationships cross-functionally
Experience using a test case management tool (Testrail or similar.)
Proficiency using Asana or similar products (JIRA) to track sprint tasks and releases
Bonus Points
Passion for online casual gaming
Experience in Web or Mobile platform testing (non-game features.)
Experience in Mobile Game testing
Passion for game design, engineering, or art
This role is a contract position, and is not classified as a fulltime employee for the purposes of the benefits listed below.
