Description : The Radiology team at Princess Alexandra Hospital, located in Harlow, Essex is actively seeking to recruit Radiographers to join our dynamic team at Band 5, with a view to support an accelerated career progression pathway to Band 6.You will provide a high standard of care to all patients and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Radiology department.The department provides 24/7 cover for emergencies and operates a 7 day working rota, so candidates will be expected to cover any 7.5 hour or 12 hour shift between 8am-8pm. Weekday night shifts are also part of the standard rota. Participation in the on-call rota will also be expected.Previous applicants need not apply.This role will cover all of the duties and responsibilities expected of a Band 5 Radiographer, including:The safe use of x-ray equipment within the department andaround the hospital, including on wards and in theatreTo undertake the positioning, manipulation and handling of patients (within the Manual Handling Protocols) to obtain diagnostic x-ray images. This may include light to moderate lifting.To be able to recognise when an image is diagnosticTo be able to recognise gross pathology on radiographic images and expedite reporting process if necessary, identifying noted fractures with “Red Dot” as appropriateWhile working in the Accident and Emergency Department, to attend trauma calls and undertake x-rays in the Resuscitation room. This involves dealing with severely injured patients (which may be emotionally upsetting)You will also be responsible for the supervision of Assistant Practitioners and Undergraduate Student Radiographers.For this role you will need: To be a Qualified and HCPC-registered RadiographerTo have good organisational and prioritisation skillsTo have the ability to work as part of a teamTo have excellent verbal and written communication skillsTo have a patient-oriented attitude reflecting PAH Trust values.To demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and concentrate on tasks in a busy environment.To have a pleasant and professional manner.Some customer service experience would be advantageousIt’s an exciting time to join the Radiology department; the service has recently expanded and you will be actively involved with new developments and innovations within the specialty of Radiology and help to promote change.The main acute site is PAH, however there are imaging departments at St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping and Herts & Essex hospital in Bishops Stortford and staff are required to work at these sites.For further information on this role’s main duties and responsibilities, please refer to the attached job description which is available to download at any time.Job Type: Full-time
