Position Summary:

Campus Services is actively recruiting for Summer Custodial Assistants for the residential community. Campus Services is responsible for all business and facility aspects of UAA’s residential campus in UAA’s residential community. This includes 18 residential and non-residential buildings across campus. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform a variety of custodial duties to ensure exceptional in-house custodial service. Must be focused on customer service and committed to providing our students and guests with an attractive, clean, and healthy educational environment. This position is under frequent supervision and will receive assignments with detailed instructions. Progress will be checked regularly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Ability to provide a high degree of customer service. Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual. Applicants must possess the ability work as part of a team, work independently, pay attention to detail, and follow directions. Strong time management and interpersonal communication skills are also required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job. Must undergo a criminal history background check; and have the ability to follow instructions both written and verbal in the English language and the ability to complete required forms, paperwork, and time sheets.

SALARY INFORMATION:

This is a full-time temporary position from May 2023 – August 2023.

Minimum hourly rate: $16.15

Applicants must be available to work & complete the entire job assignment employment period in order to receive free student housing benefit of shared, same gender apartment housing for the summer. The $2800 value of housing cost is for the entire summer employment period including interim period. To qualify for this benefit, applicant must also qualify for student summer housing with UAA and follow all Residence Life policies related to summer housing and campus living. If the position is vacated early, the entire housing costs may be evoked and fees assessed equal to the summer sessions (including interim periods) housing cost.

General Duties:

  • Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition, including, but not limited to, trash removal, spraying, and other general cleaning.
  • Remove hazards from buildings including debris and other items as required.
  • Use work orders, including computerized systems, to maintain inventories and issue materials. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins and performs periodic inventories.
  • Remove trash from rooms and buildings; perform floor maintenance including, sweeping, mopping, carpet cleaning, etc.
  • Clean windows, doors and other horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Sanitize and clean restrooms, food service areas, and common areas in residence buildings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
