Information Technology plays a vital role in assuring that HSE staff have the right information, in the right place and at the right time.Utilising Mobile Device Management technologies to deploy, build and control smart phones, tablets and laptops, HSE has been a leading government department at the forefront of innovative remote working solutions and is continuously looking at how to better support its 1500 inspectors and visiting officers in the field.Newly refreshed server and data storage solutions, are securely hosted in modern commercial data centres and monitored by HSE’s Security Operations Centre. Using industry-leading components, management tools and software, the data centres have undergone significant investment in recent years to ensure that services are reliable and robust.HSE is now developing on a roadmap to replace its core business systems. Major digital services programmes are underway, operating with the guidance of the Government Digital Service’s service manual and TCOP, to redesign how HSE delivers its work and how new technologies can improve operational processes. Collaboration and IoT are integral to HSE’s future, supporting remote inspections and compliance monitoring.Overall PurposeTo manage the HSE’s End User Computing estate (laptops, tablets, PCs, thin client, mobile device management [MDM], smart phones), ensuring that technologies remain available, performant to SLAs/OLAs and relevant to business requirements. This role will monitor all technologies in EUC, investigating incidents, resolving problems, and developing and applying fixes and changes. The role will deliver upgrades to EUC technologies, implement new functionality and seek to continuously improve the technologies to support the organisation in better ways. The role will ensure that the EUC technologies remain secure, protecting HSE’s data and users from cyber-attack and unauthorised loss. This role will engage with users, supporting their needs and ensuring that a high quality customer-focused service is delivered.Key ResponsibilitiesDeputise for the Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer.Lead and manage an End User Computing (EUC) team shift.Plan, budget and account for the Infrastructure Operations (EUC) Team’s work.Continuously monitor and operate HSE End User Computing technologies, ensuring technologies remain available 24/7/365, performant to SLAs/OLAs, and delivering a good user and customer experience.Lead the proactive identification and resolution of EUC issues before they impact the user/customer.Lead the delivery of Incident Management, diagnosing the root causes of incidents, developing work arounds and fixes, to return EUC and users to an operational condition.Lead the delivery of Problem Management, diagnosing root causes of problems, prioritising maintenance activity and developing fixes.Lead the delivery of Change Management, continuously seeking to improve EUC, promoting unused functionality and working with users to develop new ways of working.Plan, implement and monitor upgrades to EUC technologies, keeping them at N or N-1 states, coordinating change activity, engaging with users and ensuring that upgrades are understood and appropriately applied.Lead the management of device deployment using remote deployment techniques (Windows Autopilot and Apple DEP).Ensure applications are packaged and available for download by users onto EUC via company portals/software libraries.Document all EUC technologies and maintain the accuracy of documentation to reflect changes.Maintain all EUC technology records in a secure configuration management database with an accurate record of technology assets, by serial number, age and lifecycle refresh point.Be responsible for the security of EUC technologies and the IT estate, defending against cyber-arrack, preventing unauthorised access, unauthorised data exchange and data-loss.Lead by example the maintenance of the highest standards of user and customer focus, ensuring that services are delivery to user/customer satisfaction and endeavour to routinelycommunicate with users/customers to promote, confidence that incidents and problems are being tackled.Ensure that EUC technologies are routinely backed up and copies of all data and applications securely maintained.Key OutcomesEUC Technologies remain available and performant to SLAs/OLAs.Incidents and problems are resolved in priority order and to SLAs/OLAs.EUC Technologies are documented, with restoration priorities, power-down routines and installation sequencing appropriately available.EUC Technologies remain secure and user access controlled.Users are supported and are satisfied with the high-quality services delivered.·Essential Skills and ExperienceExperience of leading engineering teams.Proven experience with EUC technologies(Windows 10, Microsoft Intune, AirWatch, Apple DEP, Windows Auto-pilot, Citrix, VPNs) and associated tools/concepts (Powershell, configuration scripts, group policies, app packaging)Excellent oral and written communications.Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.QualificationsLevel 3 Service Management certificateBehavioursWe’ll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:Making Effective DecisionsManaging a Quality ServiceDelivering at PaceBenefitsLearning and development tailored to your role.An environment with flexible working options.A culture encouraging inclusion and diversity.We invest in our people with;Competitive rates of pay.Access to the highly competitive Civil Service Pension Scheme to which HSE contribute 27.1% far more than in the private sector.Family friendly policies and working hours to help balance your home life and career.25 days annual holiday increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays and 1-day Civil Service privilege leave.Parental leave benefits: Maternity, adoption or shared parental leave of up to 26 weeks full pay followed by 13 weeks statutory pay and a further 13 weeks unpaid, and paternity leave of 2 weeks full pay.Things you need to knowSecuritySuccessful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed.
