Personal care assistant required to support man (24) with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Powered wheelchair user) living in Worcester Park. Support required includes support with domestic tasks, shopping, cooking/food preparation, personal care (Some support in shower and with toilet), dressing, support with physiotherapy exercises, attending work, social and leisure activities including sailing. The employer’s interests include healthcare, science, music, watching sports and sailing.
Qualities the employer is looking for in a PA include a friendly, supportive, and positive attitude with a good sense of humour. Having common sense and a careful nature is also an essential quality! • Honest and trustworthy • Easy-going and calm • Empathetic and thoughtful • Focused, diligent and careful • Neat and tidy • Practical with common sense • Creative • Organised • Fun and friendly with a supportive and positive attitude • Good sense of humour • Excellent timekeeper • Ability to keep yourself occupied during times when employer does not require much support • Able to work flexible hours if required (day, eve and weekends) • Can follow instructions with or without direct supervision • Good level of spoken English and clear communicator • Willingness and ability to learn • Previous experience in manual handling preferred • Driver with clean driving licence to drive Motability car •Good cooking skills • Non- smoker * Please note, this role is subject to a DBS check.
Preferred Qualities: experience of similar work, able to deal with figures, qualification in care i.e., NVQ standard. Working pattern can be flexible and agreed after discussion.
