Description : An opportunity has arisen for a senior Midwife to take on the role of Intrapartum Matron with in tertiary centre for a period of 12 months
The post holder (Matron) will be a Registered Senior Midwife who will primary be responsible for the continuing management of the Delivery Suite, HDU and MLU. Whilst being accountable for providing professional midwifery and clinical leadership, you will work with other ward and departmental managers to set and monitor both clinical and non-clinical
performance standards, and where necessary intervene to secure an immediate remedy where these fall short of what is required.
The post holder will be highly visible and accessible to women, their families and staff and focus on improving the fundamental and essential aspects of care to women, including cleanliness, improving clinical care standards, ensuring best practice, infection control and ensuring that quality improvement work is implemented and sustained whilst ensuring all patients are treated with respect and dignity.
The post holder will demonstrate commitment to service improvements, providing continuity of carer, choice and promoting personalised midwifery care. The post holder will also contribute to the strategic direction of midwifery across the organisation.

The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery of the five corporate aims of the Trust as described earlier in the advert. Further information can be found in the full Job Description, however some examples of main responsibilities in accordance with the five corporate objectives are below.
Provide midwifery and clinical leadership, coordinating and assuring the highest standards of care for patients as measured by performance indicators
Provide professional midwifery leadership on the organisation and management of care
Facilitate and lead team working, innovation and practice development
Recognise and identify midwifery practice issues and under-performance, manage using the appropriate human resource policies
Be the named budget holder for their area of responsibility, maximising the use of manpower and resources and delivering a balanced budget. Lead the contribution to the delivery of the Division’s efficiency targets. Work with the Divisional
management team to prioritise cost pressures
Allocate duties to staff in accordance with their individual levels of competence
Lead and encourage practice development initiatives, encouraging innovation and development and ensuring that teams participate in patient safety and quality improvement programmes
Lead the implementation of the Patient Experience and Involvement strategy, improving the patient experience by being visible, listening to and resolving problems for patients and their relatives and building links with PALS
To be aware of local and national improvement drivers and implement change that benefits women, babies and their families
Represent the Department and or Division on working groups, committees etc appropriate to clinical and professional role
