Research and Delivery (R&D) Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research Department for an experienced and talented individual to come and join our innovative and cohesive team as a Research and Delivery (R&D) Manager.
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust has a strong background in research and is consistently ranked in the top three large Acute Trusts for Research Activity nationally.
You will be joining PHU at a truly exciting time as we continue to develop our partnership with the University of Portsmouth and shape our research portfolio following the pandemic. The ongoing expansion of research within the organisation is firmly embedded within the Trust’s Strategy.
In your role as R&D Manager, you will be a key member of the senior management team and play a vital part in the strategic development and operational management of high-quality research. Key responsibilities will include:
To develop, implement and maintain a research Quality Management System (QMS) for research activity.
To develop systems to ensure the regulatory compliance of Trust-wide research activity (including research outside of the Trust for which the Trust is responsible as Sponsor) and which will involve close working with support departments, Clinical Trials Units, Universities and other organisations.
To lead a team of research support staff whose role is to set up, facilitate, manage and monitor research studies and to deliver GCP training and SOP training programme across the Trust.
To co-ordinate and where necessary lead activity for regulatory inspection the CAPA and inspection findings.
This is a demanding operational role so you will be an experienced research manager with significant operational and line management experience working in a research environment, with significant experience and knowledge relating to study set up and research governance. You’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to quickly and effectively manage and resolve challenging operational issues and achieve performance targets.
