Description : Responsibilities
Venice Family Clinic is a community health center whose mission is “To provide quality primary health care to people in need.” Venice Family Clinic cares for over 27,000 low-income patients in over 120,000 visits annually who might otherwise go without critically needed health care services. Venice Family Clinic has fourteen locations with over 420 staff, 1,300 volunteers, and a budget of $70 million. We provide high quality, comprehensive primary and specialty health care, dental, mental health, substance use treatment and child development services to underserved individuals and families on the Westside of Los Angeles.
Under the general supervision of the call center supervisor, perform a full range of call center duties (Redondo Beach):
Provide prompt and courteous telephone assistance to callers.
Answer, screen and triage a high volume of incoming calls, verify financial and geographic eligibility, schedule patients according to their insurance and assigned provider.
Verify and update patient demographics in NextGen.
Check appointment availability across all clinic sites and schedule patients accordingly and assist with appointment cancellations.
Pre-register callers and patients using the NextGen System if they qualify and after checking insurance eligibility via appropriate website.
Screen patients for demographic accuracy and update demographics in NextGen, verify insurance and update insurance data in NexGen system upon receiving calls for eligibility.
Cancellation/rescheduling of medical appointments.
Schedule appointments and reply to messages from NextMD patient portal.
Call patient to offer follow up appointment after ED/hospital discharge.
Qualifications
Demonstrated work experience in high volume call center or medical setting – Required.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills – Required.
Oral communication skills to receive and convey information clearly and concisely – Required.
Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with callers and staff – Required.
Knowledge of major medical insurance plans, Managed Care Plans through Medi-Cal and Covered California coverage and benefits – Required.
Ability to verify insurance coverage via the internet in appropriate websites – Required.
Ability to type with speed and accuracy 45+ wpm – Required.
Working knowledge of NextGen System – Required.
Some knowledge of medical terminology- Preferred.
Demonstrated work experience in a community based health clinic – Preferred.
