Your opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to develop and implement communications plans that increase awareness, and encourage behavioural change to support key business priorities such as the future of work, quality, risk and security.
From helping embed our Shared Values, to educating our people about the importance of cyber security and leading our approach to crisis and emergency communications – this is a varied role, with lots of opportunity to make an impact and do things differently.
You’ll also lead the communications for our 3,000+ Enabling Functions colleagues (this includes our operational teams like HR, IT, Finance and Workplace) – advising senior leaders on best practice, and ensuring our communications are coordinated and engaging.
Your role
Reporting to Deloitte’s Head of Firmwide Internal Communications, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to plan, develop and deliver engaging communications across Deloitte in the UK.
The role is responsible for leading on communications initiatives supporting the firm’s internal priorities and for ensuring our communications channels and messages are joined up, consistent, and contribute to the firmwide communications agenda.
Specific responsibilities include:
Advise leadership: advise and support senior leaders and their teams on communications to the firm, including key messages, channels, tone of voice and best practice
Communications planning: develop and implement an annual communications plan that’s people centric, supports strategic priorities, meets the wider business objectives, with creative and engaging tactics that encourage behavioural change
Crisis and emergency communications: lead on drafting and issuing of emergency communications to the firm, working closely with the Head of Firmwide Internal Communications and Lead Partners; regularly input to the development and maintenance of the crisis management internal communications playbook
Produce, edit and review: regular and ad-hoc communications including newsletters, articles, emails, posters/digital signage, videos/animations, social posts etc.
Coordinate widely: provide oversight and coordination to ensure communications are part of a consistent and coherent whole, including establishing an extended network of communications contributors across the Enabling Functions
Firmwide context: be an active member of the firm’s wider Internal Communications network (central in team and peers in Audit, Consulting, Financial Advisory, Risk Advisory and Tax), working closely with them to deliver firmwide messages through appropriate local channels and share best practice and knowledge
Quality, risk and reputation: manage and uphold the highest of standards throughout, consistently meeting the firm’s brand standards and regulatory requirements.

Location: Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh or other Deloitte regional office. Travel to London will be required approximately once a month.

Your professional experience
Extensive internal communications experience, preferably in a communications business partner or closely related role
Significant experience of crisis and emergency communications in a large scale, complex organisation
Excellent verbal and written communications with very high attention to detail
Strong understanding of tone of voice and a natural journalistic/storytelling style
Sound judgement and the ability to translate firmwide communication principles to specific parts of an organisation
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build solid relationships and gain credibility with senior stakeholders, influencing them
Resilience, confidence to stand firm and say no when needed, while remaining diplomatic and consensus-driven
Strategic thinker with excellent project management and organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure and deliver against multiple priorities simultaneously, prioritising appropriately
Great team player, with the ability to drive their own agenda.
Additional desirable experience
Experience of new technologies including all typical office applications, Microsoft SharePoint based websites/portals, email marketing platforms (Poppulo experience would be a bonus), HTML, Yammer, Photoshop or similar
Journalism training, writing qualification or education background in languages, humanities or other writing based studies
