Responsible for the management of the funding request and authorization process of the Independent Living program. Deals with a diverse group of important external as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload, recommends improvements to office procedures.EXAMPLE OF ACTUAL FUNCTIONS: The Transitioning Youth Eligibility Specialist is responsible for the implementation of the Independent Living Program application submissions.Provide support to the Independent Living Program by:Transitioning Youth Eligibility Specialist to review all funding requests (PESS, EFC, ETV, after care & Financial Literacy).Ensure that IL Transitioning Youth Specialists comply with OK policies and procedures for the independent living program and RTI statutory obligations.Determine eligibility, appropriateness and authorization of funding requests for Young Adults.Collaborate with the OK Finance department in the submission and approval of IL requests.Notifies young adults of approval and/or adverse decisions as it relates to funding requests via regular mail, email and/or certified mail.Train new IL Transitioning Youth Specialists during the training phase on FSFN requirements and packet submissions.Assist IL Transitioning Youth Specialists when necessary in meeting with Young Adults and providing information and assistance.Completes case management assignments as needed.Research eligibility and provide young adults with tuition waivers who may be eligible for the RTI program.Meet with the young adults at HQ who have questions about services.Assist with Community Resource Day by uploading Real Time Funding payments for eligible Young Adults.Assist in researching and providing answers regarding eligibility inquiries from the Department of Children and Families.Willing to travel throughout Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.Willing to work with the full case management provider network and provide technical assistance to these agencies.Good communication and decision-making skills and provide professional representative of Our Kids.Must be available for consultation after hours, on weekends and holidays as appropriate on an as needed basis.Data entry by effectively using word processing, database, and spreadsheet software application programs in the course of assigned duties.Develops or assists in the development of forms, worksheet, and record keeping systems for collection, dissemination, and maintenance of needed information for specialized programs within assigned unit.Control, update and upload the following logs in order to pull reports from Termination log and Eligibility logs respectively.Answering telephones, receiving and responding to all levels of staff and the general public providing information and assistance, whenever needed.Receives, open and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; initiates and/or transmits inter-office memos or notices.Communicating any potential problems or issues to the Transitioning Youth Program Supervisors and IL Legal Specialist.All other duties may be assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a human service-related degree or business, finance, accounting, economics; Master’s degree preferred.Minimum of One year working experience in the Child Welfare field, preferred.Successful completion of Independent Living Certification is required within 90 days of hire date.Child Welfare Certification preferred.Local travel is required, a Valid Florida driver’s license and documentation of current automobile insurance is required.Job Type: Full-timePay: $45,000.00 – $50,000.00 per yearBenefits:Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible scheduleFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayEducation:Bachelor’s (Required)Experience:Child Welfare: 1 year (Required)License/Certification:Driver’s License (Required)Work Location:One locationWork Remotely:No
